Survived By: Sharon Dougherty Cleary was born in Omaha, Nebraska (Offutt Air Force Base) on November 13, 1948. She was the youngest child of Brigadier General John E. Dougherty and Marguerite Burke Dougherty. Sharon’s early years were spent living on (and moving between) Air Force Bases. She lived in many different states during her youth, and eventually lived with her mother in Madrid, Spain when she was a young teenager. After returning to the United States, Sharon attended (and later graduated from) Crossland High School, located outside of Washington, D.C. During her early high school years, she met her future husband Timothy F. Cleary. They married in 1967 at the chapel on Andrews Air Force Base, Washington, D.C. Sharon and Tim lived in Clinton, Maryland until 1977. Their two children (Timothy J. and Jill) were born in 1970 and 1975, respectively. In August of 1977, the family moved to Aurora, Colorado. Tim and Sharon have resided in Parker, Colorado since 1994. Sharon had six “grandchildren” who she adored spending time with - one grand-niece (Ruby) and five grand-nephews (Hudson, Cruz, Hayes, Nash, and Axel). All six lovingly referred to her as “Granny.” Sharon is survived by her husband of 48 years, Timothy F. Cleary of Parker, CO; son Timothy J. Cleary of Parker, CO; daughter Jill Cleary Micai of Collierville, TN; and sister Ellen Dougherty Patterson of Wellington, OH. She was predeceased by both her parents; also predeceased by her brother John “Jack” Dougherty and her sister Kathryn Dougherty Galbreath. Sharon will be remembered as a beloved “Granny,” sister, mother, and friend.
