Sandra Stokes Lightman

Life changed dramatically for me when my father died in September of my senior year. In February I "disappeared" from my life as I knew it. Went to live with my mother in Silver Spring, ended up graduating from Northwestern High. Very sad I wasn't graduating with all my friends at Crossland!
Married on my 18th birthday (I know!) and had my daughter 2 weeks before my 19th birthday!
Divorced at 21, went on to work as bookkeeper/office manager where I met my 2nd husband. Moved to California in 1973. Life was good! Built a successful business with my husband, and had my son, David in 1981. Then ended up divorced again after 16 years. Been single since 1988. I am a Realtor who specializes in Short Sales, divorcing couples, & luxury homes. A long way from the English Lit professor I wanted to be!

One of the best memories I have is of my English teacher, Mrs. Doerk. She knew the difficulties I was having in my family and always encouraged and inspired me. She helped form my love of literature that still endures to today!
